Texas City believes education is one of the building blocks for economic development. The City works closely with the school districts as well as the community college. Providing a strong, well-educated, skilled employment pool as well as providing good education for the children of business and industrial employees is critical in any decision a company makes in locating in a community. The City of Texas City hosts three independent school districts: Dickinson, La Marque, and Texas City. College of the Mainland is an excellent community college serving much of the mainland in Galveston County. There is a private, religious-based elementary school in Texas City and several major universities within a short distance of Texas City in the Houston area.
