Projects

January 2011

  1. Texas City High School is still under way and we have continued our inspections for cover ups.  This project is still on schedule for completion next October.
  2. The College of the Mainland remodel of the Administration Building is complete and they have begun a remodel of the LRC building. 
  3. The dentist office on 29th Street is still ongoing and should be nearing completion in the near future.
  4. The new TCISD Administration building has been completed and they have moved in; however, they still have some landscaping to address.
  5. The new Inspectorate Building at 3306 Loop 197 has been completed along with the building out of the lease space and remodel of the old building.
  6. The Animal Resource Center has poured the paving and driveway.  Construction is ongoing and  the project is well underway.
  7. We reviewed plans and permitted two new houses this month.
    Joe’s Seafood at 2830 Loop 197 has been remodeling and is still ongoing. It should be nearing completion.
  8. The Texas City Museum remode is still ongoing and we have been inspecting for cover ups.
  9. The lease space at 3325 Palmer Highway for Schlotzsky’s has been completed and they are now open for business.
  10. Crown Dental at 3527 Palmer Highway has been completed and a certificate of occupancy issued.
  11. The remodel of the restrooms at Hughes Road Elementary is almost complete.
  12. The Galveston Count Annex remodel is underway and we have been making inspections for pour backs on the slab and plumbing work in the slabs.
  13. The Medical Arts Pavilion has begun dirt work and the plans for the build outs have been reviewed.  The permits for the build outs have not been issued pending more information from the applicant.
  14. The metal container at Whiskerville has not been removed and charges have been filed against Ms. Dixon.
  15. We have reviewed plans for two new buildings on FM 646 for Matt Mitrowski and they are near completion pending approval from the Fire Marshal.
  16. We have reviewed plans for the Mosher’s new building on FM 517 and a permit has been issued.  Construction should be starting in the near future.
  17. We also reviewed plans for a remodel of the Olive Garden out by the Mall of the Mainland.
  18. The permits for the back up generators for the City project have been issued and we have been making inspections at the various locations.
  19. The Westward Church recently brought their drainage plans in for review and the are continuing with their project for locating a new building on their property.

July 2010

  1. Texas City High School is under construction and the steel is going up and there are no problems with construction.
  2. Costa Mariposa most buildings are complete. Continuing to final as completed.
  3. St. Mary's Catholic Church finals are being called in.
  4. COM is beginning another remodel of the restrooms in the technical/vocational buildings.
  5. New dentist office on 29th Street construction has begun.
  6. Access Self Storage is mostly complete but we are waiting on the stucco on the outside before a certificate of occupancy is given.
  7. Three school remodels are still under way.
  8. Build outs for the Arcott Center at 8030 FM 1765 are still under way.
  9. The new Dollar General at 8002 FM 1765 construction has begun.
  10. Church on 36th Street - First Baptist Church - construction has stopped. Permit was issued 3/18/09 and work that has been completed in the parking lot and three walls.
  11. The new TCISD Administration Building has steel going up.
    Carver Center is under construction and lath is going on.
  12. Fountain Lake Apartments remodel is still ongoing. Building 1 and 8 are the only buildings that have finals remaining.
  13. Garza Park on Magnolia is under construction and the build out has begun. Fencing is going up at the football field.
  14. Remodel of 20 Housing Authority homes on Blue Jay has begun.
  15. Remodel of a lease space at 915 20th St. for First Choice Power customer service office has received a building permit.
  16. We are reviewing plans for a remodel of Taco Bell.
    TCPD building at the Shooting Range has begun; however, we are waiting on additional information.
  17. Plans have been submitted a new building at Inspectorate on Loop 197 North. Issued permit for the remodel of the existing building.
    Animal Resource Center plans have been submitted for review.
  18. 10 House plans for new residents have been submitted. Bayway Homes will now be building in Rainsong S/d.
  19. Received plans for Heritage Square Apartment remodel.
  20. Reviewing plans for Joe's Seafood remodel at 2830 Loop 197.
  21. Reviewing plans for the T.C. Museum remodel.
  22. Colonial Apartments - plans received for repair and remodel from fire damage.
  23. Shell Pipeline valve control building on 25th Avenue Extension.
  24. Metal containers at Whiskerville and night club at the corner of Texas and 10th Street are being removed.
  25. Blue roof activity - most of the owners have indicated they are still waiting on the insurance company and we are referring those without insurance to the Galveston Housing program.

May 2010

  1. Texas City High School is under construction and the steel is going up and there are no problems with construction.
  2. Costa Mariposa is still under construction and 5 buildings have been completed and certificate of occupancies received.
  3. St. Mary's Catholic Church is completing the outside and is in the final stages of construction.
  4. COM is in final stages of a remodel of the administration building, student center and also the fine arts building.
  5. New dentist office on 29th Street is under way and the slab has been poured.
  6. Access Self Storage west of Lowe's is still under construction; however, no certificate of occupancy will be given until the stucco is installed on the sides.
  7. Three school remodels are still under way. Northside Elementary, Roosevelt and Heights should be completed this month.
  8. Two build outs for the Arcott Center at 8030 FM 1765 are still under way.
  9. Church under construction on 36th Street - First Baptist Church - construction has stopped. The permit was issued 3/18/09 and the only work that has been completed is the parking lot and three walls.

  12. Contractor's Safety Council remodel of the building at 3300 FM 1765 is complete and they will be moving and open on May 17th.
  13. Fountain Lake Apartment remodel is still ongoing. Building 1 and 8 have yet to be finaled and the project is on hold due to arbitration with the insurance company.
  14. Garza Park on Magnolia is under construction and the build out is being completed.
  15. Remodel of a UTMB clinic at 6400 Memorial has begun.
  16. A new ATM machine at 3400 Palmer Highway is under construction and near completion.
  17. We review plans for 4 new homes and issued permits.
  18. We reviewed the plans for a minor remodel at Texas New Mexico Power Company and issued a permit for the remodel.
  19. We are reviewing plans for First Choice Power customer service center that will be going into the HEB shopping center.
  20. We are reviewing the plans submitted for the new Animal Resource Center.
  21. Blue roof activity - most of the owners have indicated they are still waiting on the insurance company and we are referring those without insurance to the Galveston Housing program.

Feb 2010
