EMPLOYMENT PROCEDURES:

The City will only accept applications for jobs currently open. The City cannot accept unsolicited resumes or applications for a position that is not posted.

  1. Any person interested in employment with the City of Texas City must complete an application from the City of Texas City.
  2. Applications are available online or at the Human Resources Department located at City Hall, 1801 9th Ave. N., Texas City. Email application to applyonline@texas-city-tx.org.
  3. Applications of qualified applicants are transmitted to the departments for selection.
  4. Appointment is subject to verification of references, pre-employment drug screen, background check and pre-employment physical.
  5. All certifications will be verified.

Lifeguard
Responsible for continuous supervision of the outdoor pool, ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, along with related work as required.

Lowry Head Recreational Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Lowry Center Summer Camp programs. Organize and manage special event programs for the staff and campers, including, but not limited to, registration and daily activities. Report to, and follow written and verbal instruction from the Facility Coordinator.

Lowry Recreational Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Lowry Center Summer Camp children. Organize and manages special event programs for the campers, including, but not limited to, registration and daily activities. Report to, and follow written and verbal instructions from the Facility Coordinator and the Summer Camp Head Counselor.

Nessler Head Recreational Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Nessler Center Summer Camp programs. Organize and manage special event programs for the staff and campers, including, but not limited to, registration and daily activities. Report to, and follow written and verbal instruction from the Recreation Coordinator.

Nessler Recreational Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Nessler Center Summer Camp children. Organize and manages special event programs for the campers, including, but not limited to, registration and daily activities. Report to, and follow written and verbal instruction from the Recreation Coordinator and the Summer Camp Head Counselor.

Outdoor Pool Cashier
Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, responsible for collection of fees and minor clerical duties at the pool and related work as required.

Park Crew Laborer
Under the direction of the Parks Superintendent, responsible for and general maintenance for all recreation areas; work safely in all sections of the parks department and do related work as required.

Pool Manager
Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, responsible for the overall daily operation of the outdoor pools and their staff, ensuring the safety of facility patrons by preventing and responding to emergencies, along with related work as required.

Sanders Recreation Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Sanders/Vincent Center Summer Camp children. Plans, manages, organizes, and coordinates the specific programs for the campers, including, but not limited to, registration, daily routine, and activities. Reports to and follows written and verbal instruction from the Sanders/Vincent Full Time Recreation Aide.

Summer Food Program — Carver, Heights, Nessler
Responsible for continuous supervision of the Summer Food Service Program. Reports to and follows written and verbal instruction from the Program Coordinator.

Swim Coach
Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, responsible for specific recreation programs such as swim team instruction and related work.

Track Coach
Under the supervision of the Facility Coordinator, responsible for specific recreation programs related to track and field.

Carver Recreation Aide
Responsible for the coordination, organization, production, and continuous supervision of the Carver Center Summer Camp children. Plans, manages, organizes, and coordinates the specific programs for the campers, including, but not limited to, registration, daily routine, and activities. Reports to and follows written and verbal instruction from the Caver Center Full Time Recreation Aide.

TEXAS MUNICIPAL RETIREMENT SYSTEM Begins upon employment.  Employee contributes 7% of salary, tax deferred.  City matches with a 2/1 ratio.  Provides retirement benefits after 5 years of service and age 60 or 20 years regardless of age.  Five (5) year vesting.

HOLIDAYS 10 paid holidays per year:  New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Good Friday, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Day after, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.  
VACATIONS 5 days after 1 year; 10 days – 2 through 7 years; 20 days – 8 through 17 years; 24 days - 18 + years (differs for Firefighters and Police).  
SICK LEAVE Accrue 1 ¼ days per month.  (15 days per year).  
EDUCATION PAY $150.00 month for Master’s Degree; $100.00 month for Bachelor’s Degree; $50.00 month for an Associate’s Degree (rates differ for Firefighters). Full-Time employees only.  
BILINGUAL PAY After City of Texas City Tester certification - $75.00 month.
