FAMILY MEMBERSHIPS

Resident of Texas City only. Includes membership for two adults and any children under the age of 18 living in the same household.

Swim: $250: (Includes everything in basic membership plus use of pools)
Racquetball: $450: (Includes everything in basic membership plus racquetball court.)

Other Fees:

  • Any Lowry Center member may bring a guest for $6.00.
  • There is a $6.00 fee per day plus any additional fees: $2.00 swim, $5.75 racquetball, $6.00 aerobic/exercise class.
  • Lockers - $56.25/year; $18.75/3 months; $0.25/day
  • Replacement Card - $9.25

Personal Training

Personal training is available to any member for a fee of $35 per hour. Certified personal trainers on staff to work with you one on one to show you exactly what exercises are appropriate for the goal you are trying to accomplish. A body composition and fitness level test will also be included.

SilverSneakers Program for Older Adults

Free membership to the Lowry Center for those who quality.

SilverSneakers is offered in partnership with select health plans (Humana and Texas Health Spring) at no additional cost to Medicare-eligible members. Each member is entitled to a free membership to the facility. This is no initiation or monthly fees for membership in this program.

Included in this membership are the SilverSneakers Classes, which offer strength and conditioning exercises designed to improve your strength and flexibility. The member may also join in on the other classes offered and receive guidance from qualified fitness instructors. A heated swimming pool, saunas, weight machines, and cardio equipment are also available for use.

Any Medicare-eligible Humana or Texas Health Spring member may join. All that is needed is current proof of insurance participation. If there are any questions about the application process, please contact the Lowry Center.

If you do not have either of these health plans, but are still interested in the many activities for older adults that we offer, please ask about our daily aerobics classes specifically designed for seniors.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

  • Sit To Be Fit: Exercise while you sit! A 30 minute workout consissting of light cardio respirator work and toning all designed to be done while sitting in a chair. Elastic bands and balls will be used for added resistance.
  • Slow and Easy: Low impact exercises designed to get your heart rate up. Approximately 20 minutes of warm up, stretching, and cardio work followed by 15 minutes of toning and cool down.
  • SilverSneakers ™ I Muscular Strength and Range of Movement: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand held weights, elastic tubing, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
  • Kickboxing: Kicks! Jabs! Get those frustrations out while you get your heart rate up! 40-45 minutes of high impact exercises designed around a theme of punches, kicks, shuffles, etc. We'll then have 15-20 minutes of toning and cool down.
  • Floor Aerobics: A fun cardio workout of high and low impact exercises. We'll keep you moving for about 40-45 minutes, then bring it down a little with toning and cool down for 15-20 minutes.
  • Step Aerobics: Cardio workout designed around the use of a bench or "step". Keep the step lower or add risers to make the workout more intense. 40-45 minutes of work to get that heart rate up followed by 15-20 minutes of toning and a cool down.
  • Variety Hour: A little bit of everything! We'll do some cardio work interspresed with use of weights, bands, tubes, stability balls, medicine balls, the bench, and whatever other devices we have at our disposal.
  • Water Aerobics: Get a great workout without the added stress to your joints. An hour long workout in the water consisting of cardio work and toning aided, by the use of noodles and buoys. Water is 4 to 5 feet deep.
  • Yoga: Need a calm, relaxing form of exercise? You will perform flowing movements to improve flexibility and hold poses to strengthen the core and elongate the spine.
  • Pilates: Mat exercise using your own body weight or hand weights to increase resisteance while stabilizing your core.
  • Spinning: Intense work-out on stationary bike. You will be instructed to increase or decrease resistance to simulate various obstacles such as hills, valleys, and flat plains.
