The Galveston County Model Railroad Club (GCMRRC) is a non-profit club bringing together modelers of all scales interested in expanding their knowledge and modeling abilities. Established in 1989, the GCMRRC board consists of seven officers and committeemen who guide the club in activities and goals. The club originated in Galveston and moved to its present location in January 1996. The club layout consists of an "E-shaped" 32' x 52' N scale layout, a 26' x 36' L-shaped HO layout, a 10' x 14' G scale interactive layout for kids, and an 8' x 50' Lionel layout. The GCMRRC has a growing resource library, as well as a vast display of railroad memorabilia from members. The newest layout, a 3' x 36' traveling display, can run several trains at once. There are five interactive sound modules and 40-plus animated scenes that make up the overall layout. Primary control of this layout is cab control, however it may be changed to digital control in a matter of minutes.
