*The Texas City Museum is pleased to offer City by the Bay Tours -- a Tour of Texas City. This tour requires that you furnish your own bus. A step-on guide will be provided and will meet you at your first stop.

Tour Charge -- Total charge for the tour is $5.00 per person plus lunch. A minimum of 15 people is required or a minimum of $75.

Lunch -- Lunch is provided by The Reef Seafood Restaurant. All guests will be provided a lunch menu prior to the tour, which is to be completed prior to arrival. Your tour coordinator will collect lunch selections. Lunch includes complimentary coleslaw, and hush puppies while you wait.

Arrival Time -- Arrival time at the museum is 9:30 a.m. The $5 per person fee will be collected upon arrival.

Itinerary (order of events subject to change):

  1. Visit the model railroad exhibit.
  2. Texas City Museum -- viewing of a 20-minute film on the Texas City Disaster of April 16-17, 1947.
  3. Open tour of the museum
  4. Heritage Park -- short film on the four vintage, refurbished Texas City homes; tour homes with docent
  5. Board buses at 12:00-12:15 p.m.
  6. Travel to lunch -- The Reef
  7. Charles T. Doyle Convention Center -- view historical paintings by local artists
  8. Memorial Park -- in memory of those who perished in the 1947 Disaster
  9. Archimedes Screw Pumps and Texas City Biosphere
  10. Bay Street Park -- view model of 1913 aeroplane which called Texas City home, view modern day Air Force jet
  11. Texas City Dike -- a 5-mile man-made fishing pier
  12. Mikeska-Sandberg Park -- view propeller from one of the ships that was destroyed in the 1947 disaster. A view of the port (due to safety restrictions, the port is closed to outside traffic), view the sites where both ships were berthed prior to their destruction.
  13. Return to museum -- 3 p.m.

All stops are wheelchair accessible.
