Our fire department offers a variety of emergency services to the community which provides a successful candidate with the proper initiative an opportunity to train and excel in many different fire, rescue, and life-saving disciplines: residential/commercial firefighting, industrial firefighting, confined space/high-angle rescue, water rescue, marine firefighting, hazardous materials, and paramedicine, to name a few. Applicants must be between 18 – 35 years of age at the time of employment, compensation/benefits include: Salary $64,592.56 with Basic Fire Fighter & Paramedic certs, per year, (53 hour work week) plus Education Incentive Pay, Fire Certification Pay, 15 days sick leave, 16 vacation days, 13 personal days, 10 holidays. Employee Health & Dental coverage, Life Insurance, and Local Defined Benefit Retirement System.
Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (GED); Valid Texas Driver’s License; Effective oral and written communicative skills in English; Ability to successfully pass pre-employment physical ability test, structured interview, medical exam, and background check; Ability to reason abstractly using highly technical and mechanical concepts; Ability to exhibit emotional stability and technical expertise in hazardous environments while functioning under extreme stress; Must demonstrate effective interpersonal skills in the work place and community.
Hiring preference given to applicants who possess TCFP Fire Certification and/or EMT-P certification at time of employment offer.
