October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To help highlight the importance of breast cancer awareness the City of Texas City Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department will be hosting our 7th Annual Breast Cancer Heart & Sole Walk throughout the month of October. However, due to the current pandemic outbreak of COVID-19, we would like for participants to perform the walk at their own time and place of convenience. For this year it will be a virtual 5k Walk/Run.
We would like for participants to track their own time and distance, as well as take a selfie and send it to us at TexasCityVirtual5k@gmail.com. We will take your time and selfie and post it to our website.
Participants will need to keep track of their distance (5k or 3.10 miles) and time it took to complete walk/run. These apps can help with that task:
Androids users can download: "Step Tracker & Pedometer"
IOS users can download: "Pedometer & Step Counter"
For more information contact the Lowry Fitness Center at 409-643-5984.
See your picture HERE once you complete the 5k!
