Class Descriptions

Aqua Fitness: Get a great workout without the added stress to your joints and help improve agility, flexibility and endurance. This workout in the water consists of cardio work and toning aided by the use of noodles and buoys. All levels of fitness are welcome; you may go at the rate you prefer. Water is 4 to 5 feet deep, swimming experience is not needed.

Aqua Pilates: Aqua Pilates is a challenging way to strengthen, tone and improve posture awareness and balance. The aquatic setting minimizes stress on the joints, resulting in an effective combination of exercise and physiotherapy.

BeFit BootCamp: Suitable for all fitness levels from beginners to experts! This workout is designed so that it can be modified according to your individual level, while still training as a group. The interval type changes from session to session, which means no boredom, no burn-out and the fastest results possible for you! This workout sizzles calories and  fat by incorporating both strength training and cardio into a fun workout! You will learn how to use light weight dumbbells, resistance bands, exercise balls, medicine balls, plyometric, body weight exercises, basic kettlebells, calisthenics, and more to get you in the BEST SHAPE OF YOUR LIFE!

BeFit Total Body: An interval based full body workout that alternates blocks of strength of training exercises and cardio conditioning. May be on the mat or a station based workout. The class mixes traditional resistance strength training exercises with cardio drills and power moves! Get your strength training done while also burning some serious fat and calories while working up a sweat with the conditioning drills.

Body Blast: A high energy, muscle confusion, full body workout that will leave you wanting more. Anything you can think of is in this class. If you want to improve your Strength, Endurance, Speed, Muscle Definition and Overall Fitness. Body Blast is the class you want to be in. This class involves interval and strength training that will keep your body guessing what is next while having fun doing it.

Lunch Time Fitness: 30 minute workout- high enery, muscle confusion, full body workout.

SilverSneakers Class: Focus on standing or seated muscular strength and range of movement exercises. This class improves agility, balance, coordination, functional capacity, overall physical fitness and a participant's sense of well-being.

Slow & Easy: Exercise with great music and get fit through a movement and coordination concentrated class! Have fun while building cardiovascular endurance, flexibility and muscular strength with low impact toning exercise.

Spin & Trim: Intense aerobic workout completed on a stationary bike, aided by motivational music and upbeat instructors. Controlled at your own preferred pace and tension, Spinning tones your muscles, works your heart rate, endurance, as well as burning serious calories.

Yoga/Pilates: A calm and relaxing form of exercise that combines the flowing movements of Yoga and Pilates to improve flexibility, strengthen core, and increase muscular strength.

Zumba: This form of exercise combines high energy and motivating music with unique moves and combinations. Zumba is a feel-happy workout that is great for both the body and mind. This exercise is a fusion of Latin and International music to create high energy workout place for every one of all ages to enjoy! "Ditch the Workout … and Join the Party."
Guidelines
  • Management reserves the right to adjust scheduled classes to fit the need of our members and instructor availability.
  • Classes function on first-come, first-serve basis.
  • Arrive on time in order to ensure a proper warm-up.
  • Turn off all cell phones during class.
  • Return all equipment after use.
Silversneakers Fitness Program
Older adults may be eligible for a free membership by joining the SilverSneakers fitness program. SilverSneakers is offered in partnership with select health plans (Humana and Texas Health Spring) at no additional cost to Medicare-eligible members. 

Included in this membership are the Silversneakers classes, which offer strength and conditioning exercises designed to improve your strength and flexibility. The member may also join in on the other classes offered and receive guidance from qualified fitness instructiors. A heated swimming pool, saunas, weight machines, and cardio equipment are also available for use.

Any Medicare-eligible Humana or Texas Health Spring member may join. All that is needed is current proof of insurance participation. If there are any questions about the application process, please contact the Lowry Center at (409) 643-5984.
