Texas City Museum

We are pleased to announce the Texas City Museum will resume normal business hours beginning Friday May 1, 2020. As per the governor’s announcement, all interactive exhibits will remain closed and building occupancy is restricted during this phase. This means, for the health and safety of our staff and visitors, the 2nd floor of the Museum (including the Galveston County Model Railroad Club’s model train exhibit) and the Children’s Discovery Room, on the 1st floor, will remain closed.

We strongly encourage all visitors to the Museum to wear masks. Please keep in mind there maybe delays in admittance to the building/ exhibits because of the occupancy restrictions. Thank you for your patience and understanding. We look forward to seeing you.

The Texas City Museum is supported by the City of Texas City. Located at 409 6th Street North in Texas City, the Museum acquired its current building in March 1992. The 30,000-square-foot building, previously known as the old J.C. Penney building, was donated by the McDaniel family of La Marque. Since its opening in March 1994, visitors from around the United States and abroad have toured the Museum.

The Texas City Museum encourages the explorer in everyone to experience the past, encounter the present, and discover the future. It is a place where both emotions and intellect are challenged. The Galveston County Model Railroad Club Exhibit is also open each Saturday on the second floor of the museum.

Please join us in our discovery of the past and journey toward a brighter future.
